A Talk with my Darkness
"Hello? Are you Are you there ?"
Something shifts in the far-off darkness, shuffles slowly within range but remains in the shadows. I can feel its heavy breathing and, for but the briefest of seconds, am absolutely terrified.
"I I want to talk to you."
It loves the shadows, loves them so very much. They keep it hidden from condescending eyes. They let it sneer from the safety of the darkness without anyone ever knowing.
You want to talk to me ?
There it is: the almost playful scorn in its deep, gravelly voice. It sounds like far-off thunder rumbling across a darkened plain and I can feel my soul shudder. It's evil and
I am angry.
I cannot handle what I hear,
It is not fair.
If I believe what they are saying,
If I open my ears--no, I cannot.
They tell me all life is precious,
They tell me every life is planned.
Every life planned, every life directed,
Every moment not a mere coincidence.
If I believe them,
Then I must accept that You wanted this.
You wanted this?
You planned this?
If I listen to what they say,
I am driven to hate them.
If I believe, if I accept their words,
I am driven to loathe You.
What loving parent plans a child's suffering?
Who would predestine chronic disease?
I, the sinner, the unwanted child,
Am healthy but seeth
